Subtle design, big impact: recessed ceiling spotlights in various rooms

You come home in the evening and don't want to search for the light switch in the dark? In a long, narrow hallway, recessed ceiling spotlights ensure even illumination and a pleasant light thanks to their clever arrangement along the corridor. This makes the entire area appear bright and inviting and every guest feels welcome.

Recessed ceiling spotlights installed above the sink and mirror provide warm light for the morning routine. The targeted light ensures optimal illumination without annoying shadows - ideal for applying make-up or shaving in the bathroom.

In the kitchen, recessed ceiling spotlights can be installed above work surfaces such as the kitchen island or sink. They provide bright, focused light that makes food preparation easier while also creating a cozy atmosphere when cooking with friends.

You can also cleverly use recessed ceiling spotlights in the living room to highlight specific areas such as the reading nook or the art on the wall. Combined with dimmable functions, the light can be adjusted to suit the mood and occasion to effectively illuminate interior spaces - from bright lighting for reading to dim lighting for a relaxing movie night.

In the bedroom, these lights above the bed and on the side walls provide soft, pleasant lighting. With individually adjustable light zones, you can turn on the light for reading without disturbing your partner, or create a calming atmosphere that invites you to relax and fall asleep.

From protection class IP21 to IP65: Use recessed spotlights for the right zone

Using the bathroom as an example, you can see three different zones for which you should select a recessed spotlight with the appropriate protection class:

  • Zone 1 (area directly around the bathtub or shower):

In this area, recessed spotlights with an IP45 or higher protection rating should be used. A single-bulb aluminum recessed light in black with an IP65 protection rating is particularly recommended here, as it offers a high level of water protection and can be safely installed near showers and bathtubs. IP65 recessed spotlights are the best choice if you want to play it safe in wet environments.

  • Zone 2 (area up to 0.6 meters around the bathtub or shower):

For this area, the light used should have at least protection class IP44. We recommend the set of 3 LED recessed spotlights IP44, in a matt chrome finish. It is ideal for zone 2 because it offers a high level of protection against splash water and can be located near sinks and showers.

  • Zone 3 (area 2.4 metres or more from water sources):

IP21 or higher is the best protection rating for Zone 3 as it protects against dripping water and can be installed at a safe distance from direct water sources. Tip: The set of 3 metal LED recessed spotlights with protection class IP23.

Frequently asked Questions

How many recessed spotlights do I need per square meter?

For a room height of up to 2.5 meters, you need an average light intensity of 300-400 lumens per square meter. In rooms with a height of 2.5 to 3.5 meters, you should look for a higher number of lumens, such as 500-600 lumens. For very high ceilings over 3.5 meters, it may be necessary to increase both the number of spotlights and their light intensity to 700 lumens or more per spotlight.

What is the best way to arrange my ceiling spotlights?

Arrange your ceiling spotlights at a regular distance of about 1.5 to 2 meters from each other so that you create even lighting in the room. For rectangular rooms, place the spotlights in a uniform grid pattern to avoid dark corners. Make sure that the spotlights are installed at least 50 cm away from the walls to avoid glare and shadow effects.

Can I also use the recessed ceiling spotlights outdoors?

Our recessed spotlights can also be installed in entrance canopies, terraces or garages. Other possible uses include garden pavilions or pergolas. Just make sure that your recessed spotlight has at least IP23 protection so that it is protected against moisture.
