Size matters: How to choose the ideal LED chandelier

If the chandelier hangs freely in the room, the size depends primarily on the size of the room. In a large room of around 25 square metres, a chandelier with a diameter of over 70 cm can really come into its own, while in smaller rooms of 10 to 15 square metres, a model with a diameter of 40 over cm will fit better. Also pay attention to the distance to another object, such as a table.

In addition to size, luminous intensity is also a decisive factor. The so-called luminous flux, which is measured in lumens, plays a role here. For good basic lighting, you need around 100 to 150 lumens per squaremetre. A 20 square metre room would therefore require at least 2,000 to 3,000 lumens. For larger rooms or rooms with dark walls, 3,500 to 4,000 lumens are needed to provide sufficient light.

How high should the chandelier hang?

A chandelier should hang about 75 to 85 cm above the dining table to provide enough space and light for atmospheric lighting. In rooms with high ceilings, it can also be positioned slightly higher to maintain the proportions. In open-plan rooms, the chandelier should ideally hang at least 210 cm above the floor.

How can I clean the chandelier?

Switch off the chandelier, allow it to cool down and carefully wipe the surfaces with a soft, lint-free cloth. A feather duster or a special cleaning fluid can be used for hard-to-reach areas. Glass cleaner is occasionally suitable for crystal chandeliers to preserve the lustre.

Which colour temperature is right for my LED chandelier?

For living and sleeping areas, we recommend warm white light with 2,700 to 3,000 lumens so that you benefit from a cosy atmosphere. In work or kitchen areas, neutral white light with 3,500 to 4,000 lumens is often favourable. Cool white light with over 5,000 lumens is also suitable for particularly modern rooms.
